Today I’d like to express gratitude for my feet (as I mentioned the other day - these are in NO particular order ).
I love my feet, but I didn’t always feel that way. I used to hide them thinking that they were ugly and big, not the kind of feet to show off in sandals or flip flops. I’m not sure at what point my attitude toward them started to shift, probably around the time that I started doing triathlons. I then started to pay attention to how they could - and would - carry me for mile after mile after mile. Their value wasn’t limited to exercise - they walked down the aisle at my wedding, paced the hospital halls while I was in labor, danced for HOURS, adventured on four different continents - my feet have carried me through it all. In all fairness, they haven’t always been happy and pain-free. Sometimes they complain, but for the most part they always take me where, and how far, I want to go.
It’s a weird topic to express gratitude toward, I know, but I have been thinking about how fortunate I am to live and move comfortably in my body and that starts at the bottom. My feet are what connect me to Mother Earth in a literal and figurative way. I give thanks to that.
